As you all know, it is Book Week in NETNS and as part of our celebrations, 1st and 2nd Class had a visit from author and poet Suzanne Dowling. Suzanne spoke to the children about the importance of imagination and descriptions in writing. She also spoke to the children about how valuable it is to read lots of books for ideas in writing.
Suzanne also read a poem called “The Blacker” which was a poem based on a memory from her childhood. “The Blacker” was a place in Tallaght where Suzanne and her friends went to swim when she was younger. This place is no longer there. She explained how important it was to write about memories so that they are never forgotten.
Suzanne also gave us an opportunity to ask her some questions about being an author and a poet. She gave us a very interesting insight into her work. It was very interesting.
We would all like to thank Suzanne for sharing her time and ideas for writing with us all!! It was a certainly a highlight of Book Week! Check out our photos!
