Our Gaeltacht Trip!

Our trip to Donegal !

Well I have so much to say and I don’t really know where to start!                I will start at the start we were here at the school at 8:30am, and I think everybody’s stomach was turning with nerves and excitement. It was time 5th and 6th class were heading up to Donegal to the Gaeltacht! Luckily we had two stops on the way up so it would not seem that long. The first one was a shopping centre in Monaghan where we got something to eat.  Then we went to the Irish American Folk Park which was in Derry. We had a tour guide called Scott who was very nice. I think we learnt a lot at the folk park! We first went to Ireland and then got onto a coffin ship bound for America which everybody found scary! And then we went to the “New World” well only the people that survived!!! Then when we left we were on the way up to Donegal!!!

We reached our final destination (Colaiste na Rossain) at half past four. Next we went to our houses, the girls had “Teach Maighread Hanlon” as their Bean an Tí and the boys went to “Teach Sadie”. They we were both lovely Bean an Tí’s. On our first night we had a Ceili, we were all so tired that I think everybody was glad to go back to our houses.

Every morning from 10am-1pm we would have school followed by activities and a ceili!! The next day we went to the Adventure Park and everybody had a great time!!! That night we had another Ceili. On Wednesday we went to the beach! On Thursday we travelled by boat to the island of Aranmore. This was a fantastic trip, watch this space for more photos!

We left Anagaire bright and early on Friday morning, we were all so sad to leave our bean on tí’s and our new friends but mostly Donegal!!!
