Friendship Day 2010 – Sixth Class

This week Sixth Class have begun preparing for Friendship Day 2010 which will be held in our school on Friday 19th March.    Friendship Day is an annual event in aid of Amnesty International and street children in Casa Alianza, Guatemala.    Casa Alianza is a private social service agency that provides food, shelter and medical services in Guatemala and other cities in Central America for some of the worlds street children.

Amnesty International purchases friendship bracelets made by the street children in Guatemala and sells these through schools.  Sixth Class will be selling these Friendship bracelets next week at €2.00 each .  The money raised from this event will be used to highlight and challenge human rights abuses around the world. Friendship Day is also an opportunity for us to promote friendship and tolerance in our school.   The boys and girls will be co-ordinating various activities throughout  the school.

We look forward to selling lots of bracelets over the coming week!
