This week we learned about Tie-dye! We discovered it is a technique in which certain areas of fabric are bound or tied so as to resist color when the material washed with a colour dye. We were surprised to learn that the craft has been practiced in nearly every part of the world for hundreds of years although it probably began in ancient Asia and spread to Africa.
We decided to try this technique for ourselves. We brought in white t-shirt and looked at the different design types. Everyone decided on one design and then we bound the t-shirts up with elasti c bands.
The t-shirts will then be put into the washing machine with the dye.We can’t wait to see the results but we all have a feeling that they will be groovy man!
