RE: Education Cuts Budget 2009 and the affect it is having in our children’s classrooms in 2010
Dear Parent,
Arising from a meeting that various PA’s of primary Schools in Newbridge, had with the Minister of Education last May 2009, this group has been successful in securing a follow up meeting with the Education Minister and were advised last week that this is to be scheduled for Tuesday 23rd February 2010 with the Minister in Dail Eireann.
NETNS PA has been attending meetings with the other PA’s in Newbridge and the schools are listed as follows:Patrician Primary, St. Conleth’s Infants, St. Conleth’s & Mary’s, Scoil Mhuire Junior and Scoil Mhuire Senior, Scoil Bhride Athgarvan, Scoil Na Naomh Uilig, Gaelscoil Chill Dara, St. Patrick’s). The topics listed below, not all of which affect NETNS, are the issues that the group will address with the Minister for Education, Minister O’Keeffe:
- Class Sizes
- Loss of Resource Teacher(s)
- Loss of Special Needs Assistant
- Loss of EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher(s)
- Loss of Grants, (Book Grants etc.)
If you have any other concerns that you wish us to raise at this meeting, please write your comments below and return this note to your child’s class teacher or e-mail the NETNS PA at pa@netns.ie .
We must persuade the Government to reverse the cuts in our Newbridge primary schools, as already we can see the affect the withdrawal of support is having on the quality of our children’s education, in turn compromising their future prospects.
Thank you for your support.
Chairperson, Parents Association Committee
