Parents Council. The first meeting took place in September 2011. We would
like to invite you to be involved in this, so you can represent your
children, your school and your county at national level.Until recently Kildare parent associations were not represented at national
level. Kildare has approx. 26,000 primary school going children; these
children did not have a voice in the decision making process regarding
primary education in Ireland. Therefore we were not part of the national
decision making process and not involved in ratifying decisions which
influenced the lives of our children¹s education.
The Kildare Branch of the National Parents Council will be represented by 2
assembly representatives at national level. Additional delegates can
represent special interest groups who attend mainstream education like those
attending Gael schools, minority religions, ethnic minorities, children with
special needs etc. These delegates can make submissions on a range of issues
working in the best interest of our children.
It is our intention to hold monthly meetings throughout Kildare. We have set
up an e mail address which is npckildare@gmail.com
<mailto:npckildare@gmail.com> and our branch details are now available on
www.npc.ie <http://www.npc.ie/> In addition we are planning the following:
* To invite experts to speak to us on a number of issues pertaining to our
children and their education.
* To network with other county branches and implement the positives from
their experiences.
* To bring submissions from Kildare schools and negotiate at national level.
We hope that you will be a part of this initiative and help grow the Kildare
branch of the National Parents Council into a very successful and
influential organisation.
Please find attached details of our launch event which takes place in the
Osprey Hotel, Naas at 8pm on Tuesday 21st February. Please circulate this
notice to all parents in your association/school & invite them to come along
to what will be a very interesting talk on “Supporting your child through
the primary years”.
Should you require further information or wish to contact us please do so by
return email or feel free to contact Deirdre on 086 8338626.
Thank you for your time and we hope to see you in the near future.
