This week in First Class we have been learning about Rivers. We learned that the River Liffey flows through Newbridge and that most towns and cities are built on rivers because rivers are very useful. Long ago people wanted to live beside rivers so they could transport goods to different places and trade with people in other towns. Rivers also supplied people with water and fish. This week in First Class has been fun-filled! We've really been enjoying the beautiful weather; we had a picnic in the Cearnóg and while we ate we listened to the beginning of the story "James and the Giant Peach" by Roald Dahl. We're really looking forward to finding out what happens next in the story. We also planted our French Climbing Beans and they have begun to sprout already! Cd Cover Competition On Wednesday 21st two producers came into 5th class and told them they would like to make a cd with them. They told us that they wanted 5th class to hold a competition, for the cover and the inside of the cd. There will be a competition for the inside of the cd cover for junior, senior, 1st and 2nd. It was lovely to see all the children playing outside today. They really enjoyed it. The Junior Infants were playing with hula-hoops on the Cearnóg Spórt as a special treat today.
