In History we found out about the very brave Irish explorer Tom Crean. We read his story and created a timeline in our class room to illustrate his life.

Once upon a time
I caught a little rhyme

I set it free
but it went for tea

I chased it round and round
but it tunnelled into the ground

I scooped it in an ice cream cone
but it ran away all alone

I caught it in a bowl
but it turned into a soul

I followed it out of the house
but it was eaten by a mouse

When I fed it a chocolate bar
it became a chocolate car

Then it grew into a kite
and flew far out of sight…

Once upon a time

I set it in the fridge
but it ran to the bridge

I chased it over the mountain
but it went swimming in the fountain

I scooped it into my shoe
but it ran away with a flu

I caught it in a net
but it managed to get wet

but it stole the King’s crown

it became grass

Infant classes will finish at the normal time of 1.10pm.

The After School Facility will operate until 1.55pm and school buses will depart at 1.55pm.

Each of us chose an animal that we were interested in. We went to the library and found the animal shelf. We found out lots of facts about our animals in the animal books. We also checked for information on the internet at home with our parents and guardians. We looked at some websites in class about animals.

We found out what the animals look like, what they eat and where they live. We drew labelled pictures of our animal then we stuck our project on coloured card. We shared our projects with our class and now they look great hanging in our classroom.

Today we got to make our own toy shops using the toys we brought in for Toy Day. We made up prices for our toys and we even made cool signs for our shops. It was lots of fun.

Due to Department regulations, progress meetings must take place outside school hours. School will close to pupils (1st to 6th class) on Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February at 1.55pm in order to facilitate some of these meetings.

Please be advised that after school care will finish at 1.55pm and the buses will also be departing school fifteen minutes early on these dates.

We will endeavour to accommodate all parents/guardians with times that suit both parties.

This week in Art we made puppets out of old socks. We used pieces of fabric and wool to make faces and clothes for our puppets. Here are the pictures of some of our finished puppets.

We looked at pictures of houses around the world and we saw that people build their houses to suit the weather in their area. In Norway it can snow a lot so the houses have slanted roofs to help the snow slide off. In Egypt it is very hot so the windows are very small and have no glass, this helps keep the houses cool.

We watched a recording of the very first moon landing. We learned about the first man to walk on the moon, he was an astronaut named Neil Armstrong and he is American. He landed on the moon with his crew in 1969.

We also learned about the sun, moon and planets and found out loads of cool facts about our solar system; Mercury is the planet closest to the sun, Pluto is a dwarf planet, Jupiter is the biggest planet and Saturn has more than 18 moons!

Today in Music we listened to a song called “Smurfs in Space” we had great fun dancing to the song and then we drew what we thought was happening in the song.
