The boys and girls in Fifth Class who took part in the Readathon will receive their prizes on Monday.

We also learned that the source of the River Liffey is in Mt. Kippure in Wicklow. It flows through Kildare and Dublin and enters the Irish sea in Dublin Bay.

Let’s Go will provide the children with an opportunity to take part in lots of new and exciting activities so we are looking forward to a fun-filled day.

The total cost of the tour including transport is €28

The children will need comfortable clothes and runners and a packed lunch with plenty of non-fizzy drinks.

Please complete the consent form and return to us with the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it before 20^th May.

We’ve really been enjoying the beautiful weather; we had a picnic in the Cearnóg and while we ate we listened to the beginning of the story “James and the Giant Peach” by Roald Dahl. We’re really looking forward to finding out what happens next in the story.

We also planted our French Climbing Beans and they have begun to sprout already! We can’t wait to see how they’ve grown when we return from our holidays.

This week we also said “slán” to our friend Kashmala. We had a party to celebrate her on Tuesday and we even had some cáca!

We’d all like to thank Kashmala for being our friend and wish her and her family the very best of luck.  We hope you will come back to visit us soon.

Happy Easter Everyone!

They did their research using books from the library and various websites to find information  for their projects.

Have a look at the projects yourself – they’re on display outside Siobhán’s room now.

On Wednesday 21^st two producers came into 5^th class and told them they would like to make a cd with them. They told us that they wanted 5^th class to hold a competition, for the cover and the inside of the cd.

There will be a competition for the inside of the cd cover for junior, senior, 1^st and 2^nd. There will also be a competition for the outside cover of the cd for 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th and 6^th class.

There cannot be any writing or text on the picture and you must include your name on the back of the image.

5^th class will choose the best 10 for the inside and for the outside and the company will pick the best one for the inside and for the outside.

You will have plenty of time to draw over the Easter holidays

Just a quick reminder to please remember to protect your child from the effects of the sun:

- Encourage him/her to wear a sunhat, especially if they have very short hair or burn easily.

- Put on the sunscreen before school.

- Make sure your child has enough drinks to last the day. If they have a water bottle, it can be refilled from the tap in the classroom. While drinks are not permitted on yard, the children are allowed to drink water at any other time during the day.

We looked at what counties in Ireland have coastlines, Kildare does not have a coast as it is an inland county but we can visit the coast in nearby Wicklow or Dublin. We talked about the great things that we can do where the land meets the sea; we can

• visit the beach to play, swim and walk
• do fun water sports like surfing and sailing
• go fishing
