The boys and girls in Fifth Class who took part in the Readathon will receive their prizes on Monday.

Well done to boys and girls form 2^nd and 3^rd class who have been working very hard this week making their own comic.

Ethan, Samantha and Malak from 3^rd class read the story ‘Hatch Egg Hatch’ and decided to make their own comic strip based on the story. First we divided the story into six parts. Each part would be a scene in the comic. Next the children decided how they would tell their story. They could choose to add speech bubbles, thought bubbles and narrator boxes to help tell the story.

At the moment they are putting the finishing touches to their comics to show them to their class next week.

Meanwhile, Orla, Marc and Mia from 2^nd class also worked on a comic strip this week. Together they choose characters, location, plot and a beginning, middle and end for their comic. They drew a rough draft of their comic and then made it on the following website where you can go to make your own comic too!

Let’s Go will provide the children with an opportunity to take part in lots of new and exciting activities so we are looking forward to a fun-filled day.

The total cost of the tour including transport is €28

The children will need comfortable clothes and runners and a packed lunch with plenty of non-fizzy drinks.

On Wednesday 21^st two producers came into 5^th class and told them they would like to make a cd with them. They told us that they wanted 5^th class to hold a competition, for the cover and the inside of the cd.

There will be a competition for the inside of the cd cover for junior, senior, 1^st and 2^nd. There will also be a competition for the outside cover of the cd for 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th and 6^th class.

There cannot be any writing or text on the picture and you must include your name on the back of the image.

5^th class will choose the best 10 for the inside and for the outside and the company will pick the best one for the inside and for the outside.

You will have plenty of time to draw over the Easter holidays

Just a quick reminder to please remember to protect your child from the effects of the sun:

- Encourage him/her to wear a sunhat, especially if they have very short hair or burn easily.

- Put on the sunscreen before school.

- Make sure your child has enough drinks to last the day. If they have a water bottle, it can be refilled from the tap in the classroom. While drinks are not permitted on yard, the children are allowed to drink water at any other time during the day.

Over the past few weeks all the children have been working away on different projects.

Junior/Senior Infants completed wonderful artwork for our Green School Notice-board.

1^st and 2^nd class completed an appliance audit and a stand-by survey.

3^rd class completed a survey on draughts and insulation in the school building.

4^th class recorded the temperature in each classroom and drew a graph showing the results.

5^th class have been helping the infants with their artwork and also getting our displays ready for our Green school Notice-board.

6^th class typed a questionaire to find out about energy comsumption in our homes. At the moment they are compiling the results.

All this great work will be on display shortly on our new Green School Notice-board.
