Infant classes will finish at the normal time of 1.10pm.

The After School Facility will operate until 1.55pm and school buses will depart at 1.55pm.

Due to Department regulations, progress meetings must take place outside school hours. School will close to pupils (1st to 6th class) on Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February at 1.55pm in order to facilitate some of these meetings.

Please be advised that after school care will finish at 1.55pm and the buses will also be departing school fifteen minutes early on these dates.

We will endeavour to accommodate all parents/guardians with times that suit both parties.

The jury felt that their video ‘Goal! Scorio! Tor! Cúl’ promoted language learning in a positive and fun way. They also noted the teamwork, commitment and dedication that the boys showed to complete the project.  You can watch the video below.

As recognition of their achievement, the boys and the school were awarded €300 worth of National Book Tokens! This prize has been shared between the boys themselves, 4th class (who will now be able to buy some fantastic new books) and the support staff of the school, who will be able to purchase some new resources.   Well done boys!

Protective gear and helmets will be provided by the organisers for all children but it is recommended that children wear warm clothes and gloves.

The skating session is free; however, there will be a small charge for the bus which is €1.50 per child.

A big WELL DONE to all the boys and girls who competed in the FAI Futsal Tournament this week. The competition was held in Newbridge Sports Centre over two days with the boys competing Thursday and the girls team out in action today.

The boys played three matches with some wonderful performances. After coming second in their group they were unfortunate that only the first team went on to the qualifiers.

Meanwhile the girls played six matches with great effort and determination. Sadly, after a tense final match they had to settle for a 1-1 draw in a game where they would have needed to win for a spot in the final.

Boys’ Team: Terry, Dan, Mark, James, Jay, Finbar, Tom and David.

Girls’ Team: Tara, Lauren, Gloria, Hannah, Orlaith, Nikita, Halo and Malak.

Overall a fun and enjoyable day was had by all and 3rd class are already looking forward to being involved in the competition again next year!

Not only did we have a great time reading lots of books and raising money for a great cause, we now get to spend €200 (10% of what we raised) on books for our school library as a thank you gift from MS Ireland!

This week we were doing charcoal. We got to do 2 pictures each. We did lots of different types of pictures. It was lots of fun. We did lots of amazing pictures to stick on the wall in the
Classroom.

We learned about healthy eating. You should eat your 5 a day everyday. You should not eat too much fast food and just eat it sometimes. It is really important to have some carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, fruit and veg, dairy, etc it is your diet everyday.

We learned about Sikhism this week. Sikh men don’t cut their hair because it’s a commitment to god.

We learned about Sparta vs Athens today it was very interesting. If you were born you would be put outside on the doorstep if you survived you would be a strong worrier. If you were a woman you would be able to train with the men so your child would be a strong warrior.

We are reading a very good book called the silver sword. It is all about world war II. A family set off to find their parents after beimng separated in the war. The children’s names are Edec, Bronia ,Ruth and Jan. We are on the twentieth chapter where the burgomaster is trying to capture Edec and bring him back to Poland and into prison. Fingers crossed they will all be ok and will be reunited with their parents.
