Sing a Song of Senses

In Junior Infants we have been learning all about our senses this week! We know that we have five senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell.  The boys and girls told everyone the things that they like to smell, like flowers, grass when it is freshly cut and soap, and things that are not so nice to smell such as rubbish, smoke and burnt toast!  We also started to learn a song about our senses…..ask the children to sing it for you!   Sing a Song of Senses We use our tongues to … [Read more...]

Siobhán’s Room

We’ve been very busy in Siobhán’s room this week. Some boys and girls from Junior infants have been showing me what super writing they can do. We revised the formation of some tricky letters like ‘g’ and ‘q’ and then we wrote words that contain these tricky letters. Once we remembered that to form these letters we start with a ‘curling c’, they were easy to write. Other students from Junior Infants have been learning about rhyming sounds and rhyming words. At first we made … [Read more...]

The Titanic in Junior Infants

This week we learnt some interesting things about the Titanic. The Titanic was built 100 years ago in Belfast. The Titanic was a really big ship with lots of different cabins for the different types of people on board. We looked at a cabin  that a person with lots of money could stay in. We also looked at a cabin that a poor person could stay in. We noticed there was a big difference between the cabins! It was very sad because on the Titanic's maiden voyage it hit an iceberg and sank to the … [Read more...]
