Having fun with print painting!

We have been using paints and sponges to make some fantastic prints during our art lessons. The children chose some sponges to use to make their prints.  The shapes they used was a squirrel, a tree, a hedgehog, a rabbit and an owl.  First we put some bright paint on some paper plates.  We then pressed the different sponges into the bright paint. After that we carefully lifted the sponges and pressed them onto the page in front of us. The finished prints look amazing..... Well done Junior … [Read more...]

Rain, rain, go away!

Junior Infants have been busy learning about weather over the past few weeks and this week we focused on "rain". When it rains we get wet so Junior Infants came up with ideas on how we could keep dry when it is raining. We figured out that we need to wear rain coats, rain hats and wellies before we can go out splashing in the rain!! We also remembered that you could also use an umbrella to keep dry! Rama and Sita

Hi all, We have been hard at work discovering all about Hinduism in Junior Infants. We now have beauitiful displays of our Rangoli Patterns, our Diwali Cards and our Diva Lamps in our classrooms. In Croi na Scoile this month, NETNS are focusing on Exploring Feelings as part of the Moral and Spiritual strand of the Learn Together curriculum. Scientists in Junior Infants!

 This week Junior Infants became little scientists while carrying out a fun experiment in Science! We wanted to know what would happen to chocolate buttons when we put them near some heat. Can you guess what happened?? First of all we placed some chocolate buttons in a container. We then placed the buttons over a cup of hot water and waited to see if anything would happen to them......... Slowly the buttons began to melt! Fun Times in Junior Infants!!

We had lots of fun during our art lesson in Junior Infants today! We carried out two exciting (and messy!) tasks! It was our first day using paint in Junior Infants and we did fantastic work! We used two primary colours, blue and yellow to make a new colour. We put one hand in the blue paint and made a handprint on the page and we put the other hand in the yellow paint and made another handprint. Super Smiley Junior Infants :)

Welcome back everybody! It put a smile on my face today to see Junior Infants coming back to school after the mid-term break with big smiles on their faces! :D :D  We heard lots of news about the things that everyone got up to over the break and we drew pictures about our news too! Adventures in the woods!!!

Junior Infants went on a very exciting trip today to the woods.......well when we say woods we mean the wooded area at the back of our school!! The children had lots of fun collecting sycamore leaves and conkers from deciduous trees and pine cones from evergreen trees! We had been learning about these trees over the past two weeks! Junior Infants learn about Autumn

Junior Infants have been learning all about Autumn this week. Some of the children went on nature walks with their families and brought in some of the things they found. We had lots of conkers and nuts to show everyone.  We also learnt that the leaves on trees change colour in Autumn and they begin to fall to the ground.
