News from Junior Infants!!!

What an eventful week in Junior Infants! In Jolly Phonics we discovered the sounds "oa" and "ie". We are very good at spotting them in words now! Little Miss Muffet and Jack and Jill came to visit our classrooms this week! We had a great time sequencing their stories and putting actions to the rhymes. We learnt about Little Robin Redbreast. The Incy Wincy Spider

This week, students from Junior Infants talked about the rhyme ‘The Incy Wincy Spider.’  Tom Rowan Emhin and Killian had great fun learning the actions to go with the rhyme. We made our very own Incy Wincy Spider to help with our actions. Taylor, Daniel, Eleanor, Alexander and Robert made some great spiders that can be spotted outside Siobhán’s room. Junior Infants have been really busy since we came back from our Christmas Holidays!! Check out some of the great things we have been getting up to!! Progress Meetings

Progress Meetings will take place during the coming weeks. Teachers will inform individual parents /guardians of their own specific time, day and date. Due to Department regulations, progress meetings must take place outside school hours. School will close to pupils (1st to 6th class) on Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February at 1.55pm in order to facilitate some of these meetings. Creative Junior Infants

Junior Infants were busy today cutting, pasting and writing during Art Time! We made beautiful new Christmas Cards using old Christmas Cards. We cut out pictures from the old cards and used them to decorate the front of our Christmas Cards. Then we practised our handwriting and wrote "Happy Christmas" on the inside. Junior Infants Immunisation Forms

Please return vaccination forms to the school tomorrow (Tuesday) as the HSE will be collecting all forms on Wednesday. Fun Rhymes

This week Junior Infants have been having some fun trying to say some funny sentences and rhymes. The sentences have some tricky letters in an order that makes them difficult to say. We had to really slow down and be careful pronouncing every single letter to make sure we got it right. When we tried to say the rhymes faster it was so easy to get muddled and mixed up! Let it snow……..

In Junior Infants we made some fantastic snowmen today! We cut each part of the snowman out and stuck them together onto  colourful paper using some glue. The boys and girls were working really hard to help each other and the end results look fantastic! Super Sammy Circle!!

During Maths this week, Junior Infants have been learning all about 2D shapes. We now know circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. We decided to use these shapes to draw a picture. We coloured all the squares in green, the circles in yellow, the rectangles in red and the triangles in blue! We also made Super Sammy Circle.....we worked really hard together to make him!
