1st Class had a busy afternoon on Thursday working as scientists. We conducted a number of experiments based on “mixing” different materials together.
First, we mixed different coloured paint together to make new colours. We learned that by mixing primary colours together, you can make secondary colours. Here are some of our findings:
- red + yellow = orange
- blue + red = purple
- yellow + blue = green
- red + white = pink
Following this we mixed substances with water. We mixed salt, suagr and oil with water and these were our findings:
- The salt mixes with the water. We cannot see the salt but it is still there because we taste it.
- The sugar mixes with the water. We cannot see the sugar but we know it is still there because we taste it.
- The oil does not mix with the water. It floats to the top of the glass of water.
Check out our photos of our experiment!!!
